A group of people, 2 or more, that combine resources to purchase a greyhound for racing are also known as a greyhound syndicate. People who want to own a greyhound but can’t afford to buy one alone, or can’t afford to train it can group together and form a syndicate.. There is usually a manager to handle the dog and specialists to do the training. As a result, the investors get to save on time and achieve the best racer within a short period. There are three major types of Greyhound Syndicates.

Buying a Greyhound Pup For people new to the business, this is one of the best options. This is due to the cheap option that get and the cheap cost of bringing it up. This helps the owners to train the dog to their desired goals while it is still young. However, there is a risk that the pup might not turn to be the desired racer they had hoped for.

Buying a racing Greyhound This is usually the preferred option by people who already have a decent budget, or even impatient groups. This is where a greyhound gets purchased that is ready to race, and usually priced around it’s performance. Which obviously makes the price higher then when buying a pup. Although the dogs with a good track record cost more initially, investors are able to start reaping the benefits if the dogs starts winning races immediately.

Breeding syndicate This is a very expensive option to take, but this will also have a better return in the short term.. The syndicate is able to pay for its expenses and have some left for other purposes. This option requires the syndicate to purchase a dog with a great track record, and use it to breed a litter of puppies with this dog as the mum. These puppies can usually go for a bit more money due to the mum’s DNA
